Solid Surface Bathtub Maintenance Guide
Solid surface and stone resin are forgiving materials, but they are not indestructible. Five minutes of the right routine keeps the matte finish uniform for years; the wrong cleaner can dull it in one afternoon.
Every day
- Rinse the tub thoroughly with mild soapy water after use, then wipe dry with a soft cloth.
- Rinse again after using any cleaning agent and dry — residue left behind is what etches a matte surface.
- Do not leave standing water in the tub. Standing water causes water stains and scale, which are the most common reason a matte tub starts to look patchy.
Never
- Use steel wool, sharp objects or sharp tools — they scratch the surface permanently.
- Let household cleaning agents or bleach sit in the tub for a long period — this can ruin the finish.
- Leave rubber mats, sponges or cleaning pads in the tub for long periods — they trap moisture and can stain or mark the surface.
- Leave colored substances such as makeup, hair dye or coloring agents on the surface.
- Use abrasive, ammonia or acid-based cleaners.
Hard water and scale
If you live in a hard water area, wipe the tub down after every bath rather than waiting for a weekly clean. A 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water, left for a few minutes and rinsed, lifts light scale without abrasives. For heavier build-up, use a dedicated stone-safe descaler and rinse thoroughly afterwards.
Chips and scratches
Solid surface is repairable in a way acrylic and enamel are not: minor scratches can be sanded out, and small chips filled with color-matched material. Contact us before attempting a repair yourself — DIY sanding with the wrong grit will change the sheen of the surrounding area.
Protecting the warranty
Proper maintenance is a condition of the 5-year warranty. Damage from abrasive cleaners, bleach, ammonia, acidic substances or misuse is excluded, so keep it simple: mild soap, water, a soft cloth, and no standing water.
