Bathroom Sink Maintenance Guide
Solid surface, artificial stone and concrete basins are non-porous when they leave the factory, and they stay that way with a simple routine. What damages them is almost always an abrasive cleaner or a metal object, not water.
Daily care
- Wash the basin frequently with warm soapy water and dry it with a soft cloth.
- Rinse away toothpaste and soap residue rather than wiping it into the surface.
- Keep metal objects — razors, hair pins, jewellery — out of the bowl; they chip the edge on impact.
Never
- Use wire brushes, scouring pads, detergents with abrasives or grit-based cleaners.
- Use hard or sharp objects to scrape the surface.
- Use bleach, ammonia or acid-based descalers, which dull a matte finish.
- Let colored products — hair dye, cosmetics, colored soap — sit on the surface.
Wax every six months
We recommend waxing solid surface and artificial stone basins roughly every six months with a non-abrasive paste wax. It takes ten minutes, fills the microscopic surface texture, and makes water bead so soap scum rinses away instead of clinging. It is the single best thing you can do to keep a matte basin looking new.
Stains and marks
Most marks are on the surface, not in it. Try a soft cloth with mild soap first, then a paste of baking soda and water for stubborn areas, rinsed well. For metal marks left by a razor or can, a melamine sponge used gently usually lifts them. Avoid anything coarser than that.
Drains and overflow
Remove and rinse the pop-up drain stopper monthly to clear hair and soap build-up. A slow drain is almost always the stopper, not the trap.
Maintenance is a condition of the 5-year sink warranty. Questions about a stain? Send a photo to info@northern-breeze.com.
